SoTL – Wine, Cheese and SoTL: A Faculty Scholarship Colloquium

In the Spring 2019 semester, the CTL will host a Wine, Cheese and SoTL: A Faculty Scholarship Colloquium centered around the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, or SoTL in short.  Faculty scholarship is defined broadly: in additional to research in the field and scholarship of teaching and learning, it also includes activities of ‘discovery’, ‘integration’, and ‘engagement’ with teaching and learning at an Art and Design school.

Date for the next Faculty Scholarship Colloquium:  Monday, February 25 at 4:30 pm

There is no agenda for these informal, collegial get-togethers to share ideas and projects related to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). If you already have a project that is semi-ready for publication or presentation and you want feedback on it, please sign up to present here.

But if not, come anyway and bring your ideas.  Maybe you’ll find a partner to write an article with, or prepare a presentation for a conference.

RSVP to attend.

For potential faculty presenters:

  • Brief overview your SoTL research.  This could be theoretical research, published work, collaborative projects, hands-on practices or artistic endeavors  – connected to your teaching practice;
  • A 15 minute version of your most recent conference presentation;
  • Discussion of you teaching methodology (classroom and studio), and ways in which it might tie into the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).  You might not have formulated your teaching as a research problem, yet –but this forum can help you do that.
  • Ideas for SoTL research – don’t feel like you need to have your scholarly project completed before you can present it.  Anyone with even just an idea for scholarship related to teaching and learning should feel free to share it and get feedback from colleagues.

Faculty presenters will give a brief overview of their scholarly activities (for about 15 min) and then entertain questions from the audience (for about 15 min).
