LDC: Dreams and Goals

Learning Design Conversations (LDC) – December 3, 2018

This is the start of an ongoing and exciting faculty conversation series about course design, inspired by L Dee Fink’s (2013) book, Creating Significant Learning Experiences. One of the key components of good teaching, besides knowledge of the subject matter, teacher-student interactions, and course management is Design of Instruction.  Learning Design is a skill that relies on different conceptual tools – and as with any skill, it requires practice, repetition, engagement, purposefulness and feedback.

Dreams and Goals.  What are *your* dreams for your students’ learning? What are some special pedagogical challenges for your course? How can we identify important situational factors and formulate significant learning goals in order to deepen student learning?
