Pratt’s Center for Teaching and Learning is now accepting applicants for the 2021 Summer Institute!
Please APPLY ONLINE
Deadline for application: April 30, 2021
We are very excited to announce our newest CTL Summer Institute that will run for 2 weeks in mid-May. We invite all Pratt colleagues to join us at The Playground Institute – A playful community to explore asynchronous pedagogies for faculty who are serious about improving their online teaching practice.
Topics will include: faculty presence, engagement beyond Zoom, Liberatory LMS, Open Educational Resources (OER), and more. Hands-on techniques will be emphasized and faculty will be asked to collaborate with colleagues to test out various technologies and practices. Faculty will gain knowledge of various Canvas tools and multimedia resources that could be directly applied to their own courses and online teaching.
Please note: The Playground Institute is going to be playful by definition. Please apply only if you are comfortable with a more lighthearted approach to learning with colleagues together.
Details and Expectations:
Dates: May 17 – May 27 (no sessions on Friday, 5/21)
Time Commitment: Daily Zoom calls, morning and afternoon sessions. As part of the Playground Institute, we’re offering a mix of whole-group, small pod, and individual work sessions. The schedule varies throughout the weeks; additional meeting time with colleagues is optional; additional individual work time as needed.
Stipend: All faculty (part time and full time), upon completing all requirements for the Institute, will qualify for a $400 stipend. Space is limited.
Please submit your application for the limited spots available by April 30 (Friday). The selection process will take into consideration the following:
- Your completed application and commitment to follow through;
- Your interest in exploring, experimenting with, and creating new modes of online instruction;
- Your excitement towards forming community bonds and explorative collaboration with your fellow Playground members.
The finalized participants will be announced by early May.
