Faculty Spotlight: Strategies for Fostering Student-Driven Design Courses

“During this lecture, I will be sharing effective strategies for empowering and encouraging creativity among students in design courses. Drawing on my extensive experience as a design educator, I will highlight frameworks that promote student-driven learning and inspire innovation. I will also be sharing insights from my teaching experience, including my work on the Emerging Practice course, which was an interdisciplinary collaboration between the Communication Design Department and Industrial Design Department, and was sponsored by General Motors.”

Bio: Daisuke Endo is an accomplished designer and educator, currently serving as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Communication Design Department. He has taught a variety of core courses, including Graphic Design Thesis, and was awarded the Distinguished Teachers Award in 2019 for his exceptional contributions to teaching. Daisuke began his career at Pentagram, a leading design firm, where he played a significant role in numerous high-profile design projects for clients such as Amnesty International and Herman Miller. His exceptional work has been featured in prestigious publications like AIGA Annual, Art Directors Club Annual, Graphis, ID Magazine, Print Magazine, and Type Directors Club Annual, among others.
