Supporting International/ELL Students Panel and Workshop 🗓

Join us for a panel discussion on supporting international and ELL students featuring representatives from the Office of International Affairs, the Intensive English Program, and the Writing and Tutorial Center!

Panel: Thursday, March 28, 2:30–4pm—RSVP

Workshop: Thursday, April 18, 12–1:30pm—RSVP

The panel will address how language and culture show up in our classrooms, studios, and other learning spaces, as well as how we can be more linguistically and culturally inclusive in our approaches to communication, community building, and other aspects of our pedagogical practice.

Later in the semester, join us for a workshop on equitable teaching practices for linguistically and culturally diverse classrooms led by Liz Knauer (Social Science and Cultural Studies)!

Accessible Communication: Practices for Good Pedagogy with ELL Students

This workshop will provide faculty an opportunity to learn practices to improve their engagement with English Language Learners and international students, as well as improve students’ engagement with the content and with one another. Focusing on practical tools and your own classroom needs and practices, this workshop will help you learn strategies to make student learning deeper and more meaningful, and will offer strategies for creating assignments and feedback structures that are more accessible to students, which will deepen their learning and engagement in your class.

Eligible part-time faculty who attend both the panel and the workshop qualify for a $150 stipend.
